           GRuB FILLING 2 AMERICORPS POSITIONS 
Garden-Raised Bounty (GRuB) is a grassroots non-profit organization dedicated to nourishing 
community by empowering people to grow good food. We create educational and job-training 
opportunities that grow inspired, self-confident and community-minded youth. We help low-income 
families to help themselves by building raised-bed gardens at their homes. We work in Thurston 
& Mason counties. 
Kitchen Garden Project Leader – Help build gardens for low-incomes families! 
GRuB’s Kitchen Garden Project (KGP) provides free raised-bed vegetable gardens to low-income 
people at their homes and at institutions that serve disadvantaged people. The Americorps 
member will work with college interns, volunteers,and youth involved in our employment program 
to ensure that 80+ gardens are built in Thurston and Mason counties over this next year. Member 
will also help lead youth and volunteers in growing food for the Thurston Food Bank at the 
GRuB Farm. 
Cultivating Youth Counselor – Mentor youth in making real change in our community. 
This position will work with Thurston County low-income youth (ages 16-17) who are in GRuB’s 
Cultivating Youth Program. The mission of the Cultivating Youth Program is to empower youth to 
create positive change in their lives and in society as they lead projects that specifically 
address issues of hunger and poverty. This position will work with our Cultivating Youth Program 
Director and Farm Manager in the development and staffing of this program’s curriculum and 
activities. Member will also help lead youth and volunteers in growing food for the Thurston 
Food Bank at the GRuB Farm. 
Positions’ Dates: October 1st, 2006 to August 15th, 2007 
Wages: $825 monthly living stipend (before taxes), $4,725 educational award at end of service 
Qualifications: 
• 25 years old or younger, high school equivalency (some college/life experience preferred) 
• Mature, outgoing, comfortable working in a group 
• Responsible, mature 
• Strong experience & rapport with youth 
• Strong communication, teaching, & facilitation skills 
• Positive attitude, works well with others 
• Computer literate (MS Office Suite)
