GRAND MOUND ROCHESTER PARK ASSOCIATION
Current Construction Status
A "Pre-Submission" conference was held with the Thurston County Development Services Division to obtain information on the requirements which will need to be met when applying for the construction permit. This conference was attended by Park Association President, Mary Lewis; Park Architect, Markthor MacFarlane; and Rochester School District Representative, Larry Quarnstrom from the Grand Mound Rochester Park Association (GMRPA) and the various county employee's involved in the permitting process.
A physical survey of the property has been now completed. This step was necessary to establish the exact boundary lines for the park. The next step in this process is for GMRPA to super-impose these boundary lines onto the park design drawing. The drawing which many of you have seen was hand drawn and will need to be re-created as a digitized (computerized) version of the drawing. Some very minor changes may occur to conform to the property boundaries but all basic elements will remain on the proposed plan. Markthor is currently working on this task.
New Item Bids were solicited and are now being evaluated for the construction of the walking path around the perimeter of the park. It is anticipated the paving will be complete by early summer. Plans are also being formulated for building two half-court basketball , horseshoe pit and tether-ball areas along with a couple of benches. Completion of these items is also expected by early summer.
The GMRPA has been busy during the past 1 ˝ years.
