CAPACITY Program Manager (Outreach Coordinator)

TOGETHER! is a non-profit agency working to prevent youth violence and substance abuse through awareness, advocacy, and action to support youth and families. This goal is pursued in several ways, including youth development programs, community mobilization and community coalition support, substance abuse prevention, education, awareness and advocacy efforts, community collaboration, and facilitating the use of research-based programs.

 Role

The CAPACITY (Community Action Partners Acquiring Capacity to Invest in Thurston Youth) Project is designed to provide training and technical assistance to local agencies, faith-based organizations, and community coalitions that address issues of youth violence, child abuse and neglect, and the needs of youth in distressed communities.  The four topic areas for capacity building include: 1) Leadership Development, 2) Organizational Development, 3) Program Development, and 4) Community Engagement.  The primary function of the Program Manager (Outreach Coordinator) is to provide capacity-building training and technical assistance to youth-serving community- and faith-based organizations with special outreach to organizations located in rural Thurston County.  In addition, the Program Manager (Outreach Coordinator) will play a key role in establishing the CAPACITY Project technical assistance resource library.

 Responsibilities:

bulletDevelop a capacity-building outreach strategy that identifies community- and faith-based organizations in underserved rural communities in need of capacity-building training and technical assistance.
bulletProvide one-on-one training and technical assistance to community- and faith-based organizations with special outreach to organizations located in rural communities. 
bulletExpand the CAPACITY Project technical assistance resource library.
bulletPlan, attend, and facilitate CAPACITY trainings and community meetings, as needed.
bulletAssist in the collection and compilation of data for overall program evaluation.
bulletParticipate in TOGETHER! sponsored events as a member of the TOGETHER! staff.
bulletOther duties as assigned.

 Qualifications and Skills

bulletBachelor’s degree minimum preferred. Directly related experience may apply on a year to year basis.
bulletMinimum two years successful experience in working in a non-profit, faith-based or community organization.
bulletExperience in providing training in areas such as leadership development, organizational development, program development, and community engagement.
bulletCommitment to working with community members from diverse populations.
bulletAbility to work independently and as part of a team.
bulletCommitment to positive youth development and the goal of reducing youth violence, child abuse and neglect, and gang violence.
bulletGood writing and verbal communications abilities.
bulletStrong database management skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially, Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint).
bulletReliable transportation, valid Washington State Driver’s License and liability insurance.
bulletWillingness to work occasional evening and weekend hours.

 Accountable To: CAPACITY Director

Hours and Compensation Range:  Full time, DOE to $32,136
