The draft minutes of the January 21, 2010 Grand Mound Rochester Horizons (GMRH) Steering Committee meeting are posted below.  They are subject to correction and approval at the next GMRH Steering Committee meeting on February 18, 2010.

Please remember that every GMRH Steering committee meeting is open to all residents of the area.  You are encouraged to attend and participate in the discussions as this is a community-wide effort to reduce poverty in the Rochester/Grand Mound area.  Also, these are only several from a larger list that will be addressed as people accept the challenge to take on the responsibility of any of the other projects on the list.  The larger project list can be found here  Copies of steering committee meeting minutes will be posted on this website and also on the GMRH blogspot at: http://grandmound-rochester.blogspot.com/ so check both websites often to stay current with what is happening.

January 21, 2010 Steering Committee Meeting Agenda

 

Meeting called to order by Suzanne Brown at 6:30 PM

Introductions of those present: Joe Baisch, Gala Fagerness, Bill Liddle, Joan Hitchcock, Sandra Cornell, Danette Jones, Donna Smith, and Suzanne Brown.

Minutes of last meeting - Joan Hitchcock moved acceptance of previous minutes and it was seconded by Donna Smith. Motion approved

Treasurers Report: Resignation of Joan as treasure was accepted. Donna Smith moved and Joan seconded motion to appoint Suzanne Brown as interim treasurer. Motion approved.

Old Business: Joe Baisch explained a little more about next weeks Tillamook trip. We will leave between 10:30
and 11:00 AM 0on Thursday, January 28
th and return about 4:30 PM on Saturday. Those who are going are Donna Smith, Kim Fry and Bill Liddle. We will be joining with others from Mossyrock and Pe El.

Project Reports

o Sidewalks – Lowell Dequise not present so no report.

o Farmers Market – Sandra Cornell has researched port-a-potty outfits and has quotes. She also has garbage cans donated by Rochester Lumber plus quotes for signs and printing. The totals for all these items is $966.79 for the 2010 season. The first week the market booth fees will be $5.00 and $10.00 thereafter. The rules, regulations, sign-up sheet, contract form etc are all complete. Motion by Suzanne Brown and seconded by Joan Hitchcock to support the farmers market for the first season. Motion passed.

o Swimming Pools – Danette Jones says the church youth group is collecting cans to get money for the swimming pool fund. Any who are willing to donate money to this fund is encouraged to do so.

o Basic Computer Literacy – Bill Liddle reported there was no class scheduled for the December- January period. The next class will commence in late February or early March. Updating the PowerPoint presentations with slides representing OpenOffice word processing suite were added.

o Old Gate School – Donna Smith reported the 100 year celebration planning is underway.

o Rochester Soccer Center – Domingo is still looking for a building.

o Family Learning Center – Danette Jones reported the Methodist church is beginning the family learning center. She submitted it as a project and it was accepted.

o Rochester Clothing Bank - Donna Smith reported the Clothing bank project now has four storage units for use – they also have a double-wide mobile to be used as a crisis center.

New Business:

o March 18, 19, & 20 Horizons conference in Moses Lake.

o Next meeting is Thursday, February 18, 2010 in the Rochester Community Center Conference Room – bring snacks
