Rochester Weed & Seed Strategy

The community consisting of the area within the boundaries of the Rochester, Washington School District was officially designated by he U. S. Department of Justice as a Weed & Seed site in March of 2002.  Weed and Seed is a community driven strategy consisting of four components: Law Enforcement; Community Policing; Prevention/intervention/Treatment; and Neighborhood Restoration.  The purpose is to weed out crime, and seed the target area with social services and community outreach programs.  The Thurston County Prosecuting Attorney's Office is the Weed & Seed grantee and fiscal agent.  Rochester Weed & Seed is governed by a steering committee composed of Rochester residents, and representatives from  law enforcement, social service agencies and partnerships with community groups.
